Felt vaguely like Oracle marketing. Didn't really teach me anything about explain that wasn't readily available with through minor web searching. Was really hoping to get into some of the nitty gritty of explain and how it aids with query optimization.

I think the audience had a range of questions from beginner to technical. So this kept it in the middle of the road for both sides.

I am a bit biased here as I work with Ivan. I thought that it was a great mix of presentation and discussion. There was lots of great material added by people who were attending, as well as some great questions.

The information was easy to follow and digest as well.

A little too much like a product pitch - other than the chance to ask questions I think I didn't learn much more than is on the web site. That said it is a very interesting product that I will investigate further so ultimately useful, just not the usual type of talk I'm used to.

    Good meeting, very good presentor

Excellent meetup. The speaker knew his subject and how to make a presentation that was concise and strictly to the point. Plus the examples given were real world cases that most of the audience could understand and enjoy.

Sales pitch in tech talk clothing. Don't appreciate being misled.

It could have been a great topic and should have been very instructional but rather it felt like a big commercial ad for a commercial (not even production-ready) product.

nice topic, learned a lot. totally worth the two hours train time.

The talks were a bit dense for me. Was looking for more straight forward examples of how NoSQL solutions can be implemented. The Cassandra talk was particularly hard to follow. :\ Thanks for setting this up and providing the nice facilities for this though!

Good speakers on an interesting group of topics -- worth the time even though it was long. Great door prizes and lots of them! Crowd was kind of large, making it more like a conference seminar than what I think of as a meetup. Not having pizza was a nice change of pace, but arriving early was a key to getting any food at all.

A very good meetup. Only have 2 suggestions : 1) For this type of meetup, a panel session with all 3 presenters taking Q/A would be very helpful in clarifying some of the differences of the 3 technologies presented. 2) I don't want to sound too cliche Northern Californian. But... Some food that herbivores could eat would have been great. All in all, one of the best MySQLUG meetups that I've been to. Thanks

It was unfortunate the speak couldn't answer most of the questions.

    Simon

  • Tom Anderson
The presenter gave excellent bullet points about what works and what doesn't but he did not provide a good view into how facebook runs. "I can't answer that" resounded throughout the Q & A period.

Was reassuring -- didn't realize big tech companies were so, "imperfect", shall we say! Would have preferred slightly lower level, maybe a few very specific case scenarios with details and how wultsch handled them, but it was still very worthwhile.

This talk had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I learned more about indexes last night than I have the last ten years. Superb presentation!
