Job Description:

The Sr. Software Engineer for the Server is responsible for helping design and develop various application, web, and edge server components that comprise our Service. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering. The Server is currently implemented using the LAMP software stack. We are experiencing very high customer growth rate while maintaining a lean headcount; this individual will take on major product delivery responsibilities within a small, highly productive team. Depending on the experience level of the candidate, this position may vary from Senior to Staff Engineer/Architect level in terms of design and scope of responsibility. This position requires a high energy, creative, flexible individual with a proven ability to multi-task, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and deliver an exceptionally high quality product. Strong interpersonal skills are a requirement, as this role will interact directly with the founder/CEO on a frequent basis. We works on highly confidential projects, and therefore candidates must be exceptionally trustworthy and discreet.

Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain System server platform components
• Write design documents for internal review and use by other Development and QA engineers
• Coordinate with QA and Product Management on feature specification and delivery
• Work with Product Management and the CEO to conceive of and plan new products and features

Requirements:
• BS in Computer Science or related field. MS degree is a plus
• Minimum 4 years development experience in a server team (startup or enterprise)
• 2 years of PhP/Java experience
• Relational DB experience
• Solid understanding of application programming constructs and best practices
• Working knowledge of Web Services: SOAP, XML, WSDL, and schema/XSD
• Working knowledge of alternative server frameworks a plus
• Working knowledge of Objective-C / Mac and .Net / Windows programming a plus
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Desire and ability to work in a team environment
• Desire and ability to work in a test-driven development environment
• Must be willing to work at the HQ location in San Francisco
